At the suggestion of New York-based artists Jayce Salloum and Walid Ra'ad, who exhibited their work at 'Friseur der Botschaft' in 1992 as part of the 'Fishing for Documents' project, a two-year exchange programme involving mutual visits between Botschaft e.V. and cultural producers from Beirut was established. This took place shortly after the end of a long civil war in Lebanon.
